FAQ
What's the difference between Indian and international systems?
Indian: thousand → lakh (10^5) → crore (10^7). International: thousand → million (10^6) → billion (10^9). 12,34,567 is "twelve lakh…" in Indian, "1.23 million" internationally.
How do I write an amount in words on a cheque?
Choose the "Rupees" format — you'll get output like "Rupees Twelve Lakh Thirty Four Thousand Five Hundred Sixty Seven Only". Adding "Only" is important so nothing can be added afterward.
Is decimal (paise) supported?
In the Rupees format, the 2 decimal digits become paise — 1500.50 = "Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred and Fifty Paise Only".
How large a number can this convert?
Up to 99,99,99,99,999 (~1 trillion) — plenty for cheques and documents.
